The PSP, whatever that will be, will offer Wi-Fi: For a gaming device, it's a natural. Play will other, around the house, on the road. An easy sell, but will it be fun? Due out in Christmas. Whatever it is.

Turns out the PSP is actually due out in Fall 2004, not this Christmas. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May, Nintendo refused to comment on the Sony PSP at all, saying they couldn't comment on something that wasn't even close to shipping because so many of the specs can change. And with it more than a year out, that's the case (remember the changing Microsoft Xbox specs?). So the flavor of Wi-Fi the PSP may use could be damned near anything.
My guess: the PlayStation Personal (PSP) will play PS2 disks and of course also function as a portable DVD player. Portable DVD players are suppose to be the must-have for teenagers this XMAS. Multiplayer network games are hot enough, that some sort of wireless was needed. $500?
Also, if you have kids, an DVD player in the vehical is a must-have, but the kids want to plug in their PS2 on trips. It is a pain to have the PS2 and power inverter installed in the SUV/Minivan. Handheld PS2s would be nice. If the PSP has video out, it could plug into the in-car DVD 'big screen'.
"Dad can you speed up, I'm playing a game with the kid in the other lane."
