Maybe. A lot of "ifs" surround the reality of Wi-Fi-enabled everything, including the kitchen stove. But the vision is pretty cool.
The Internet is the killer application. As technology deployment increases, we find new ways to develop cultural devices to communicate with one another. Blogs are a case in point.
To me the question is how will we use this new technology, for the home, for business and community?
How is only limited by the peoples imagination. I'm sure there are many potential applications waiting for the technology to catch up.
I hate to sound like a luddite, but I don't think I want to stove to turn on remotely. My cat sits on the stove to look out the window. When I want to use the stove, I shoo him away. I love the idea of smart devices, but unintended consequences may end up being the rule...
