A lake in India now offers Wi-Fi connectivity: Forgive my lack of knowledge, but this article is slightly obscure. I'm guessing there is a lack of habitation on and around the lake, but I'm not sure if it's a tourist area or a permanent residence area. It also mentions "shikaras" without a definition: perhaps these are wireless nodes that move around the lake?
Glenn,
The Dal lake is one of the most famous lakes in India. It lies in the heart of the city of Srinagar, the summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
It used to be a tourist hot spot until terrorism took its toll. The state government is probably hoping to put it back on the tourist map by offering all these new services.
Shikaras are small boats, not unlike the Gondolas of Venice. They come in many shapes and sizes, with the smaller ones usually used by the locals for transport and commerce and the larger ones offered for cruises.
Hope the article makes more sense now :)
