Southlake, Texas, allots $72,846 for public locations, public safety: The town is carefully avoiding treading on private companies' territory, however, and will offer free Wi-Fi in public buildings; more broadly, only to police and public safety. Service will be in place by October in parks, the library, and other locations.
How does the town intend to avoid private companies' territory when they are broadcasting a signal from their transmitters? And especially at the parks? It seems like somebody over there is confused.
But it sure is nice to see another municipal wireless initiative taking off.
