Burglars use radio frequency detectors to find laptops: If you're already a worrier, add one more item to the list.
Hello burglar... This is my laptop... This is also my .44. Burglars use radio frequency detectors to find laptops: If you're already a worrier, add one more item to the list.... [Wi-Fi Networking News]... Read More
How did they know they burglers used Wi-Fi detection devices? Maybe the thieves broke in and just stole the laptops. Most people leave their laptops on their desks in plain view. I mean it is not like people hide them in safe places within the home.
I have an idea, why not just turn off your Airport & Wireless card before leaving the house? If you have your laptop while traveling, turn off your wireless card until you actually use it.
Okay, I have to ask: if a couple of burglars could figure out how to make such a device work, why couldn't Kensington? And wouldn't it have been simpler/faster/more lucrative for them to have just sold their design to Kensington (or K's competition)?
I also have to agree with Floyd that as there's no word that these guys have confessed, so it's just someone's guess as to what their method was. It all sounds kinda fishy to me.
Just more bad journalism at work. They need better research people.
