My short account of the Kensington WiFi Finder: You have to love the copy editors at the New York Times who can take a few graphs on such a bizarre and wonderful device as the Kensington wireless network finder and produce the headline above. I should have one in my hands shortly; they're in production now.
I'm very excited about this gadget coming out... From the looks of things it appears to almost be a keychain? Is that true?
Thanks for the article... I've been entrigued by this since I read about it on Gizmodo a week or so back.
I just picked one up today at Circuit City, though I hadn't heard anything about it. Within 10 minutes I took it apart and examined it. photos will be up soon, hopefully. The unit consists primarily of a TI MSP430 microcontroller, 2 CR2032 batteries, and an antenna. the MSP430 has a 14 pin JTAG programming interface. I've got no microcontroller experience, but I imagine that someone more skilled than I could reverse engineer the code.
I'll try and post photos soon.
hello,
does anyone have an idea where I could find the wifi finder in Canada? a lot of US stores are carrying it, but not one of these stores ships "up here"...
thanks!
Glenn,
Just posted my comments on the WiFi Finder at http://www.rds.com/doug/weblogs/2003/07/26.html#a989.
