Cometa bags Barnes and Noble: Ken Berger reports from a talk by Cometa's CTO at HP yesterday that the joint AT&T/IBM/Intel venture will light up Barnes & Noble outlets. No press confirmation on this, so the exec might have been speaking well in advance of the publicity machine.
In related news, Cometa's CEO thinks the sweet spot for Wi-Fi pricing isless than $20 per month, while John Yunker of Pyramid Research thinks $10 to $15 per month is possible for unlimited access later this year.
Glenn,
Won't this be interesting if not challenging. Quite a few of the Barnes and Noble locations are adjacent to or part of a Starbucks location that already has a T-Mobile Hot Spot.
When I asked Borders if their relationship with T-Mobile was book category exclusive a few months back they seemed to think so.
Starbucks views the stores that open into the Barnes and Noble locations as "overlapping."
Certainly this will get interesting, especially if some channel management isn't performed to prevent wireless signal collision from access points.
Do you have any idea on how this matter is going to be handled.
